HOW YOU CAN HELP: A major fundraiser for Moonachie and Little Ferry emergency service squads crippled by Hurricane Sandy is on tap in Garfield the end of this month. Meanwhile, others are doing their part, as well — and so can you.
On Dec. 29, a “South Bergen Strong” beefsteak / tricky tray, hosted by the Lodi and Wallington fire departments, runs from 6 – 11 p.m. at the Boys & Girls Club of Garfield.
Admission is $40 per person, with beefsteak by Giresi Caterers, along with beer, wine, soda, a 50/50 raffle and music by TNT DJ Entertainment.
Special guests include the Honor Guard of the Pipes and Drums of Bergen County.
“It’s what we do,” said Chris Sinisi, one of the organizers. “When brothers are in need we step up.
“We may have worked a fire together and had each others’ back without knowing each others’ name or we may have met at a parade, wetdown or a meeting,” Sinisi said. “You will never be alone because we are here for you.”
