East Rutherford police: No major injuries in Route 3 crash

ONLY ON CVP: Five people had to be extricated from one car following a crash with another on westbound Route 3 just past MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford that police said looked worse than it was.
All five and the driver of the other car sustained minor injuries in the 9:15 p.m. crash (SUBMITTED PHOTO, ABOVE).
No fewer than a half-dozen emergency medical units were there — 2 teams from Moonachie, one each from Rutherford, Lyndhurst, North Bergen and Meadowlands Hospital and Medical Center.
East Rutherford police were joined by officers from several neighboring communities, as well as by the state Department of Transportation.
All of the westbound lanes were shut down.
One of the vehicles ended up against the divider of the bridge that leads to the exit for Route 17, a witness said.
