WITH PHOTOS: A Dodge Ram pickup hit a tractor-trailer and at least two other cars on Route 17 South in Paramus, then cut across three lanes of traffic before skimming along the divider, hitting a Century Road support pile and ejecting the driver, who was killed instantly, CLIFFVIEW PILOT has learned.
Paramus police said they needed to withhold details until an investigation was complete. They did confirm that at least one victim died.
They also said at least one other car was involved. There were four vehicles in all.
Police were contacted by the driver of the 18-wheeler, sources told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.
The Dodge sideswiped his tractor-trailer, as well as two other cars before smashing against the divider, a law enforcement source said.
“All other drivers have minor injuries,” he told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.
Route 17 eventually was reopened in both directions just before 5 o’clock this morning.
