HAVE YOU SEEN THEM? Authorities searching for a 5-year-old boy abducted by his grandfather confirmed that they’re focusing on several spots in Brooklyn.
JUNE 19, 2012: David Lundy was found and his grandfather arrested in South Carolina after a tipster spotted them in a McDonald’s and notified authorities. They said they’re particularly concerned because the pre-schooler has an undisclosed chronic illness that requires regular medication [UPDATE: It was later revealed he has asthma].
New Jersey’s Department of Youth of Families had deemed David Lundy’s grandparents unfit guardians and were about to remove him from the home he shares with his aunt when the boy was taken, local police said.
David is described as 3-foot-4 and 55 pounds. He has short, sandy hair.
Witnesses told police the boy was wearing a white and green shirt and blue cargo shorts when his maternal grandfather, 50-year-old Morris “Tommy” Lundy snatched him just before 7 o’clock Friday night near David’s West Windsor home.
The elder Lundy is described as an 5-foot-10 and 180 pounds, with long black hair and hazel eyes. A warrant has been issued for his arrest, charging Lundy with kidnapping.
Volunteers, police, and teams of search dogs have been searching wooded area’s near the boy’s home, but authorities strongly suspect the elder Lundy took him to either Brooklyn or Binghampton, N.Y. The FBI and and National Center for Missing and Exploited Children are among those assisting the New Jersey State Police in the search.
