YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: The sister of a man who died recently after traveling to Liberia was brought to Hackensack University Medical Center from Newark Airport as a precaution tonight against possible Ebola exposure, emergency responders told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.
“No Ebola confirmation,” one said. “Looks like another precaution stay.”
The HUMC emergency room was on lockdown as Union County EMS arrived with the patient around 8:50 p.m.
No other ambulances were allowed in the parking lot as medical workers in hazardous materials suits brought her into a quarantine area of the ER.
HUMC — designated as an “assessment hospital” where potential Ebola patients receive care for up to four days while awaiting results of a blood test — followed protocols established by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the sources said.
